Cameron
Dale Carey 1959-2006
Cameron passed away peacefully on thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, with
loved ones by his side after a nine-year battle with brain cancer. He was a loving and devoted father, husband, son, brother
and friend. He adored spending time with his children, family and friends. He loved Key West and the waters surrounding the
island. His favorite memories were of boating to Snipes Key, Mud Key, Oatmeal Lane and the multiple Tortugas trips with his
brother, family and friends. When he wasn't on the water, you could find him hard at work creating his masterpieces at Mike's
Radiator and Muffler Shop. He was the Michelangelo of mufflers.
Cameron had an enduring spirit, and his
zest for life was unmatched. He was charming, witty and handsome, and he made sure everyone knew it. His hero and purpose
in life came to be his savior, Jesus Christ, He was his lord's greatest spokesman. Everyone Cameron came across heard the
story of where his strength, courage and hope came from.
Cameron's life was focused on God and Jesus, his
children, mother, brother and the love he had for all of them. The example he set during his time here with us changed many
lives for the better. He was an inspiration to us all and we are all blessed for having known him.
He preceded
in death by his father, Benjamin "Big Mike" Carey. He is survived by his mother, two children, brother, aunts, uncles,
nephews, nieces, cousins and many devoted friends. Funeral services were held at the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Key West.
Comments;
I didn't know Cameron very well, but I remember him being very popular and seeing
him fly down White Street Pier a few times, as we all liked to do back then. I knew his dad who had a gas station on
Kennedy Dr. and Rossevelt for many years and his brother, who was one of the best baseball pitchers ever. There is no doubt
that Cameron is in God's hands now. N.S.Sherlock

when he was younger, starting at age 17, one year earlier than was allowed in those days. He was also an avid water-skier,

Comments;
I knew Mr. Murguia a little, a good friend of mine started working for him
when we were in high school, he taught him all about motorcycles and how to assemble them, this was the only job my friend
has ever had and now owns Key West Honda. I remember watching him do ski jumps, he was a well liked guy, especially with
women. Tony Murguia is a great example how someone can be a Conch, without being born in Key West. He will be missed. N.S.Sherlock

Comments;
I knew the Jimenez family from going to Bayview Park, they lived right by it on
Varela St. Boise was a good natured guy, a gentle giant who played football at KWHS. While working as a lineman for City Electric
he was struck by lighting on a pole, this would have surely killed most men, but not Boise, he went on to live a productive
life. He will be long remembered by many in Key West and beyond. N.S.Sherlock

Comments;
I
knew James for many years, I first met him at Che Che's bar, where he was a favorite of the Parks boys, David, John and Cliff,
childhood friends that I must write about soon. He was one of the last of the old time conch fisherman and the best sponger
that I ever knew. He was a brother Moose, James along with his good friend Clarence Almyda played many pool games
there, he was very good. He would also organize the 3 ball tournaments, that provided many hours of fun for all of us. James
Knowles will long be remembered by his Moose Brothers. N.S.Sherlock
